Quite an experience to live in fear, isn’t it?
That’s what it is to be a slave.
(Blade Runner, 1982)
And yet, so many people choose to live in fear. Because fear is comforting, it gives you imaginary boundaries where you can live quietly your life, if you respect them and never doubt them. So you can be a slave by choice. Because being free it means being held responsible for your choices and for your action, for the better or the worse, in which case you have to pay the price. And THAT, that can be really discomforting, and frightening, for some people.
